Raleigh-Wake HRMA in the Community

Raleigh-Wake HRMA has a proud history of community involvement through initiatives, programs, events and awareness.  Often these initiatives offer opporunities for membership to volunteer their HR expertise through community outreach, to join together to make a difference or to advance the HR profession. 

Listed below are official partnerships where Raleigh-Wake HRMA Board of Directors has a Memorandum of Understanding on file.  

N.C. Center for Nonprofits

   N.C. Center for Nonprofits

 The Human Resources Assistance Program is a partnership between Raleigh-Wake Human Resources Association and the N.C. Center for Nonprofits. This new program works through the Center’s Board and Staff Helpline for nonprofits. Center staff will screen human resources questions and, when appropriate, contact you to see if you can take a call from a Center Member. If you agree, then Center staff will pass along your contact information to the caller. Most of these questions will take only a few minutes and you’re not asked to spend more than an hour with the nonprofit caller.

Xtreme Beginnings:

Wake County Public School System, School to Career Annual Event

The Raleigh Wake Human Resources Management Association has a long history of working with the Wake County Public School System on  Xtreme Beginnings, a career exploration event  held each April.  Over 750 10th and 11th graders from throughout WCPSS interact with area businesses to improve their understanding of real world-of-work expectations.

Triangle Organization Development Network

TODN is a professional association community committed to excellence in learning, growth and innovation in the field of organization development (OD). Established in 1997, TODN is a community of members actively engaged in creating next generation practices that transform organizations.  Their mission is to advance the principles, practice, and profession of organization development.

Triangle Business Journal

RWHRMA joins TBJ in Best Places to Work Award by spreading the word on this fun and prestigious award.  Nominations are usually accepted until June and winners announced in late September.  Check the website for the call for nominations.


Raleigh Mayor's Committee for Persons with Disabilities

Helping people with disabilities in the Raleigh area participate in the economic and social life of the community. To this end, the committee promotes employment of persons with disabilities, communicates to local leaders and the general public on the needs of persons with disabilities and relevant policy issues, and sponsors other activities benefiting persons with disabilities and their families.

The committee also advises the Raleigh City Council and the Mayor on the needs and concerns of Raleigh citizens with disabilities in the areas of education, recreation, employment, transportation, and housing.


Wake Area Business Advisory Council (BAC) 

Wake County Human Services - Employment Services

In 1997, Wake County Human Services and several private sector representatives created the Wake Area Business Advisory Council (BAC). The BAC's mission is to develop and promote employment opportunities and resources for participants of Wake County employment and training programs through partnering with area businesses.

Capital Area Workforce Development Board

Capital Area Workforce Development Board (CAWDB)

Capital Area JobLink Career Center (JLCC)

CAWDB hosts two JLCC Career Fairs annually attracting over 500 job seekers and from 40 to 80 employers depending on economic conditions.  RWHRMA supports these annual events through online registration for business booths and promoting the event to members.


William Peace University

William Peace University will provide RWHRMA members a consistent and significant discount on continuing education opportunties in the discipline of HR from an HRCI approved provider of HR continuing education.  For more information, click here.
