Session Two: The Principles and Competencies of Coaching

Once an HR Professional has a thorough understanding of what coaching is and the myriad of benefits a coaching culture brings to an organization, the next step is to grasp the principles and competencies of coaching, who within their organization can model coaching behaviors, how to prepare them to coach others as well as in what circumstances coaching is appropriate and useful.  With this knowledge, an HR Manager can “sell” the concept of coaching at various levels so that the culture is accepted and utilized globally. In the second of the four-part series, participants will learn:

  • The guiding principles of coaching and the competencies needed to engage in the process successfully
  • How to identify who within the organization can and should adapt a coaching approach within their management and leadership strategies
  • Resources that can support the development of coaching practices
  • How to identify situations and circumstances in which coaching is valuable

 Session Outcomes:

  • A thorough understanding of coaching principles and competencies
  • The ability to identify who should learn how to coach and how to support their coaching competency
  • An understanding of what situations and circumstances are prime for coaching opportunities and the results of coaching efforts in each

Our Speaker: Dina Maloney, MAA ACC, CALC, has assisted individuals, teams, companies and clients to achieve personal and organizational success for more than 25 years.  Her ability to lead others to peak performance, implement innovative methods and solutions, facilitate engaging and interactive workshops and serve as a catalyst for change and excellence have contributed to her solid reputation as a successful leader, mentor, coach, innovator and educator.


As Co-Founder of EPIC Coaching and Consulting, Dina Maloney provides leadership and executive coaching, skills development training, consulting, and motivational speeches to support organizations and companies in their achievement of maximum profitability and productivity.  Her passion for and the ability to Empower People Through Insight and Change is the greatest contributing factor to her enduring success. This EPIC Model of Empowerment is the foundation for Dina’s approach to individual, organizational and leadership development:

·   Step I: Insight - Identify who they are (values, strengths, challenges, passion and mission) and who they want to be (desired intentions, passion and mission       – their “why”)

Dina earned an MA Degree in Communication Media from Barry University, a BA Degree in English with a minor in Communication from Florida State University, the credential of Associate Certified Coach (ACC) from The International Coaching Federation, and the Credential of Authentic Leadership Coach through Raleigh Coaching Academy. In addition to the work she does with and for EPIC CC clients, Dina is a contributing coach for The Impact Center’s Women’s Executive Leadership Program out of Washington, D.C., as well as for The Bridges Academic Leadership Program for Women through UNC Chapel Hill. She serves as Lead Coach and Training Facilitator for The Statarius LeaderStep7 Program, Senior Instructor of Professional Development for Knowledge Source, Inc., and a Contributing Alumni for Raleigh Coaching Academy. Dina, who was a 2016 NCAPC 5.0 Speaker Award recipient, is a preferred provider for SHRM as well as a member of the Global and Raleigh Chapters of the International Coaching Federation.
